Radical Acceptance

July 18, 20251 min read

Radical acceptance—it’s hard.
And kind of easy?

You may not know I’m allergic to gluten and yeast.
When I first found out, I fought it.
No pizza? No beer? I ate like a rabbit.
“This is gonna suck.”

All I could see was the negative.

And when I did accidentally eat those foods?
Migraines. Hours of vomiting.
It didn’t take long to realize
that sucked more.

My wife? She looked for options.
She adapted recipes. She learned.
Now I get gluten-free chocolate chip cookies, pancakes, and most recently—pizza.

Guess what?
In the last 10 years, the world adapted too.
There are way more options now.
What I thought was impossible became normal.

I was out with a friend right after I found out.
He said, “You’ll have to learn to drink the hard stuff.”
After a moment, I thought—
Why would I
want to learn that?

Radical acceptance is about adapting to what is.
Fighting reality doesn’t change it.

That’s mental fitness.

So, what are you resisting that might actually be an opportunity?

Accept the challenge—because sometimes, not accepting reality?
That can make you sick.

Change the conversation. Change the game.
We can help you and your organization with a keynote, training, group, or one-on-one coaching session.
