New Year’s brings hope.
Positive intentions. Motivation.
Resolutions quickly become resignations a few days in.
By now, you may have resigned.
Change doesn’t happen through motivation alone.
It requires consistent recommitment.
Habits are the key to change.
You could make a habit of reading all the habit books — there are a ton — but that only changes your reading habits.
If you only read one, I recommend Atomic Habits by James Clear.
He makes them clear.
It’s small.
It’s powerful.
It breaks habits down to the tiniest, workable details.
He outlines four laws of behavior change:
Make it obvious.
Make it attractive.
Make it easy.
Make it satisfying.
Sounds simple.
It’s not easy.
You need all four for the recipe.
What does that mean on the daily?
Obvious: Put reminders in your face — impossible to ignore.
Attractive: Add benefits — fun, competition, or meaning. Or all three.
Easy: Remove the friction that hinders action.
Satisfying: Show progress — tracking, checking boxes, dropping coins in a confidence jar.
Small compounds.
Quiet progress leads to an explosion of results.
Don’t bomb.
It takes creativity, flexibility, and a plan.
Reach out.
We have a habit of helping people change — through keynotes, in-person trainings, and online resources.
