What is meditation?
It’s the practice of being present.
Letting go of the past. Not jumping to the future.
It’s awareness.
I used to think meditation meant:
– Clearing your mind of all thoughts.
– Feeling totally relaxed.
Anything less? I thought I sucked.
But those are myths.
What it really looks like:
You sit.
Notice what’s happening.
Return to the breath.
Think of it like the scroll at the bottom of a TV screen—
You notice it… then return to the game.
Drop the “elimination agenda.”
How did I start?
I met my wife at a clinic that sponsored a mindfulness experience.
We did an all-day silent retreat. (Yes, I pulled it off.)
During a meditation, it was my grandpa—
who told me to ask her out.
Then I read 10% Happier by Dan Harris.
Dan—a news anchor—used meditation to work through PTSD.
I figured if it worked for him, it could work for me.
So I just started.
What changed?
I can’t explain exactly why, but:
✔ I’m less reactive.
✔ Slower to judge myself and others.
✔ And I realized I needed to share what I’ve learned with the world.
Try it for a month with the Healthy Minds app—it's free.
Let’s change the conversation.
Change the conversation. Change the game.
