Mental Fitness for Facing Success

November 08, 20241 min read

Is there a difference between fearing success and facing something you haven’t done before?

Some people say they fear success. Success means embracing challenges, change, the unknown. Experiencing the emotions that result doesn’t mean you’re afraid of success; instead you’re stepping into places you have never been.

When you try something new, there’s discomfort. When facing the unfamiliar, the uneasy shows up. This doesn’t mean you’re scared of outcomes; it means you’re human. Embracing this discomfort is key to growth and reaching goals.

Success is a journey filled with firsts. The first big win, major responsibility, the first time you lead a team. The firsts bring expectations and excitement. sometimes positive emotions are stressful and big.

It doesn't seem like they should be but often they are. It still requires mental fitness. We often forget that moments of doubt are part of success. They are moments nothing more or less. Accept the moment as part of the process.

Adjusting to new experiences means just that. Trust your abilities, including the ability to learn. Success is discovery of the origins of doubt.

Change the conversation to mental fitness. I’d love to do a keynote for your organization to help everyone embrace new challenges and overcome the discomfort of uncharted territory.
