Why systems are important

This is Mental Fitness Fridays. 

Outcomes define sports. 

 After the Patriots came back and beat the Falcons in the 2016 Super Bowl, an ESPN headline was - “Did the Patriots win or the Falcons choke?”  

The answer - BOTH!  

We think we have to find someone to blame or find a hero.  

When you compete or perform you are only 100% responsible for the outcome if you play in a vacuum.  Which would suck and it would be dirty.  

Winning a golf tournament seems like it's 100% up to the golfer. It's not.  Winning it is dependent on all competitors, weather, and course conditions, among others.  You could have 4 of your best rounds and still not win. 

In team sports, ability to control outcomes is even smaller. I'm not suggesting a reckless approach and to not responsibly prepare.

You only control you. 

Your preparation, effort, composure, and  knowledge of the game plan. 

You need solid confident systems for competition and change. Wins and losses depend on many factors. 

Knowing your performance values helps. Having systems to maintain consistent effort. Knowing how to pursue progress over perfection, and do the most important job in front of you. If you can do that, you can say yes I am being who I wanna be.
